A shake for breakfast? Why not when it’s healthy, right? This consists of six basic ingredients ingredients you likely always keep on hand and it can be ready in no time. Chocolate for breakfast, count me in!

How could this not be good though? It has three of the best flavors, banana, peanut butter and chocolate all together in one decadent morning treat.

Note that the sweetness of this smoothie comes from the ripeness of the bananas so be sure to use some that are well ripened. If you still would like it a little bit sweeter you could add in a little honey or cut back a touch on the cocoa powder.

  • 2 large overripe bananas , peeled, sliced and frozen*
  • 1 cup original almond milk (or more to thin as desired)
  • 3/4 cup ice
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract


  1. Add all ingredients to a blender a process until well pureed. Serve immediately.
  2. *The overripe bananas will add the sweetness for the smoothie so use some that have a generous amount of speckles, don't use black bananas though those are just gross.

    • 9516862057: I just calculated this based off of my nutrition labels and google listing large bananas at 121 calories each and I came up with 702 calories total and 36.3 grams fat which would be 356 cals per serving and 18g fat. It’s not a low calorie shake but it’s filling because of the peanut butter and banana. I think those sites can be off sometimes and its probably more accurate to check your labels if possible.     20g ( 1 heaped teaspoon) peanut butter (Saiins Basics)

    I banana chopped

    100 ml Alpro Almond Milk (minimum liquid)

    1 teaspoon clear honey (Sains basics)

    1 heaped teaspoon cocoa powder ( Sains)

    Ice to dilute and chill

    Only makes for 1 short glass, increase liquid for more volume

    290 cals. 6 fibre, 28 sugar, 42 carbs, 11 fat, 7 protein.

    Low cost (UK) for all ingredients which will make lots = £5.32

DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE!! The taste was okay, not great, and the texture was horrid! So then I froze some bananas and tried again and I could not believe the difference! Both in taste and texture! It is now by far my favorite smoothie. I usually add a little protein powder too. But this tastes almost exactly like my favorite milkshake, and the best part for me is that this smoothie is dairy free, so I can eat it without any issues! (I have a slight dairy allergy.)   • Belinda: I make one very similar to this, but I use frozen bananas, cocoa powder, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, creamy peanut butter and sweet leaf liquid stevia. No need for ice, which tends to water it down. ???? May 10, 2018 at 8:33am 7815603366
